Lucy Lamb Crafts
Lucy

I was given a black lamb for my 21st birthday. That was Lucy. I brought her and 5 others back from Wales. I rented land and my flock increased to about 40 ewes at one time. Lucy lived 18 years. Coloured wool is not favoured by the Wool Board (British Wool Marketing Board) as it limits dyeing potential, but the natural variations in colour make products interesting and unique. I had always wanted to learn to spin wool and coloured wool seemed ideal to me.
Latch hook rugs and cushions
Lucy Lamb Crafts happened when I was working for the lady who ran the local farmers market. She encouraged me to have a stall. Mum had started a latch hook rug years before and never finished it. I dug it out of the attic, we finished it and I thought of making rugs, cushions and draught excluders from my sheep's wool. We used unspun fleece latched into canvas which gives a finish similar to sheepskin, without having to kill the sheep.
Latch hook kits and hanging basket lining
The kit idea materialised because of my lack of time for latching. I also hit upon using the wool for lining hanging baskets. It does the job well and looks good.
Unfortunately, things change and I no longer have any sheep. That may alter, but currently my left over wool is doing sterling work as a mulch, retaining water and repelling slugs.
After a hiatus of some years, I may add a few hints and tips on using wool, spinning etc or add some more pictures of cross stitch. Computers have a lot to answer for, never mind building a house.....no promises though!
